An armed robbery suspect has been reported dead after an
exchange of gun fire between his gang and men of the Anti-Crime Patrol team of
the Nigeria Police Force, Kwale Division, Delta State, led by the Divisional
Police Officer, CSP Godwin Igoche.
Other members of the gang escaped from the crime scene,
DAILY POST reports.
The deceased suspect, who sustained serious gunshot wounds,
died in an hospital where he was receiving medical treatment.
The police also recovered one locally made gun, four live
cartridges, and four expended cartridges from the suspects.
The Delta State Police Command, led by CP Ari Muhammed Ali,
confirmed the report in a statement signed by the Police Public Relations
Officer, DSP Bright Edafe.
The police image maker said, “The DPO Kwale Division
received a distress call that an armed robbery operation was taking place along
Jesus Avenue in Umusadege quarters in Kwale, Ndokwa West LGA, the DPO Kwale
Division CSP Godwin Igoche Mobilized and led the Divisional Anti-Crime Patrol
team to the scene, the suspects on sighting the police, engaged them in a gun
duel, during which, one of the hoodlums sustained bullet injuries while others
escaped.”
According to DSP Edafe, “The injured suspect was taken to
the Hospital where he died while receiving treatment.
“Manhunt for the fleeing members of the gang is ongoing.”
