Aloy Ejimakor, lead counsel for Nnamdi Kanu, leader of the
Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, on Thursday said the continued detention of
the Biafra agitator has become mysterious.
Ejimakor warned that woes would befall those responsible for
Kanu’s continued detention.
The IPOB leader has been detained since his arrest in Kenya
and repatriation to Nigeria in June 2021.
Despite court orders, the Nigerian government has refused to
grant him freedom, while he is locked up by the Department of State Services,
DSS, in Abuja.
In a statement titled, ‘The uncanny mysteries of Nnamdi
Kanu’s ordeal’, Ejimakor said: “A lot of people don’t know that in April 2005,
Obasanjo arrested Mazi Nnamdi Kanu on his way back to the UK after visiting his
parents in Umuahia. The lame reason given by DSS for the arrest was that #MNK
is asking for Biafra. After nearly a month is solitary confinement at DSS
headquarters in Lagos and later transferred to Abuja, #MNK was released
unconditionally to return to the UK. Obasanjo served out his term in peace and
grew the Nigerian economy.
“President Jonathan never bothered to arrest #MNK despite
his open and vociferous agitation for Biafra self determination and Jonathan
too served out his term in relative peace and made Nigeria the number one
economy in Africa.
“We know what has become of Nigeria under Buhari (the
Renditioner-in-Chief) and now that President Tinubu has persisted in the unjust
persecution of #MNK, your guess as to what may come is as good as mine.
“MNK’s ordeal proves that the spiritual realm is a mystery
to many; and this truth is self-evident: The more you detain MAZI NNAMDI KANU,
the more woe betides those involved directly or by proxy. It’s a mystery but
also the gospel truth. #FreeMNK and seek the face of God.”
