Ejiofor Receives Recognition for IPOB Legal Service, Calls for Wisdom, Civility and Justice

October, 7th 2026.

ABUJA — Legal counsel to the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Sir Ifeanyi Ejiofor, Esq., has received an award of recognition for what he described as his modest contributions and committed legal service to IPOB and vulnerable members of society.

Ejiofor disclosed this in a statement titled “Wednesday Musings: An Award of Gratitude, a Moment of Reflection, and a Renewed Call to Service,” dated October 7, 2026, following a visit by a group he described as “ezigbo ụmụ Chineke” in Abuja, who presented him with the award.

The legal practitioner said the recognition prompted deep reflection on his professional journey, particularly his experiences representing oppressed and disadvantaged persons, including individuals involved in the exercise of what he described as their inalienable right to self-determination.

According to Ejiofor, the significance of the award goes beyond the material value of the recognition, describing it as a reminder that sacrifices made in the course of serving others are not necessarily forgotten.

He recalled the difficult and sometimes dangerous experiences associated with providing legal services in sensitive cases, saying the recognition demonstrated that some of those who benefited directly or indirectly from his legal interventions still remembered his efforts.

Ejiofor said the occasion also provided an opportunity for “sober stock-taking, introspection and deeper reflection” on the turbulent experiences of the Igbo people and the broader struggle for self-determination.
He stressed the importance of wisdom, focus, civility and fidelity to truth, warning that noble causes could be undermined when their principles are corrupted or when human life and civility are disregarded.

The lawyer further reflected on what he described as lessons from the past, maintaining that history would eventually distinguish truth from pretence and expose actions that had previously remained concealed.
“No cause, however noble, can ultimately survive the corruption of its principles, the abandonment of civility or the desecration of human life,” he stated.

Ejiofor also expressed appreciation to Mazi Chika Edoziem and the Directorate of State (DOS), acknowledging what he described as their courage, sacrifices and commitment to the Biafran cause.

He said there had been moments when the situation in Ala-Igbo could have deteriorated further, potentially resulting in greater loss of innocent lives.

The IPOB lawyer said he received the award with humility and gratitude, stressing that he regarded it not simply as personal recognition but as a renewed reminder of the responsibility attached to service to humanity.

He reaffirmed his intention to continue contributing, within the limits of his professional calling and conscience, to humanitarian and pro bono causes, particularly in defending vulnerable people and those without a voice.

Ejiofor concluded by expressing gratitude to those who presented the award and called for the restoration of peace, justice and sanity in the land.
He also offered prayers for the protection of the people and urged continued reliance on God, saying the ultimate glory for the journey and its outcomes belongs to Almighty God.

The statement was signed by Sir Ifeanyi Ejiofor, Esq., KSC, Dunu-Ezeugosinachi, on October 7, 2026.
